KÖMMERLING MANUFACTURING

Kömmerling is one of the planets leading providers of uPVC windows and uPVC doors and are a popular choice for Australians seeking quality, luxury and energy efficient windows and doors. Utilising the latest in technology, Kömmerling’s Australian fabricators present a range of windows and doors that are second to none when you consider design and usability.

Global Manufacturing Excellence

Kömmerling is part of Profine GmbH – International Profile Group, a world-leading manufacturer of uPVC profiles for windows and doors. With a rich heritage dating back to 1897 in Pirmasens, Germany, Profine supplies high-quality profiles and systems to more than 100 countries worldwide. Its global manufacturing capacity exceeds 450,000 tonnes of premium uPVC profiles annually, backed by technical leadership and continuous investment in innovation.

Our manufacturing network includes 43 highly specialised extrusion and production sites across Europe, Asia, the Americas and beyond, enabling localised solutions to meet specific market demands while maintaining consistent global quality standards.

At the core of our network is the Pirmasens site in Germany – the historic birthplace of the Kömmerling brand and one of Profine’s flagship manufacturing hubs. The Pirmasens facility operates advanced extrusion lines, comprehensive testing laboratories, and engineering centres that continually develop and refine profile formulations tailored for diverse climates and performance requirements.

Sustainable, Energy-Efficient Production

At Kömmerling, sustainability is not an add-on — it is built into how we manufacture. As part of the Profine Group, our production is supported by Profine Energy, a dedicated renewable energy business created to drive the transition to clean, future-focused power across our global operations.

Profine Energy invests in and develops large-scale solar farms, rooftop photovoltaic systems, battery storage solutions, and renewable energy infrastructure across multiple regions worldwide. These projects help supply manufacturing sites with clean energy, reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and stabilise long-term energy consumption.

Our extrusion plants are increasingly powered by renewable electricity generated from solar and wind energy, supporting energy-efficient production while significantly reducing carbon emissions. This approach allows us to operate advanced manufacturing facilities with a lower environmental footprint – without compromising performance, precision, or quality.

How Our uPVC Profiles Are Made

Making a Kömmerling uPVC profile may seem simple, but it’s a carefully controlled process that combines precision, technology, and sustainability. Here’s how it happens:

1. Raw Materials and Preparation – Everything starts with high-quality raw materials. The PVC, stabilisers, and additives are carefully selected for durability, weather resistance, and colour stability. In our climate-controlled mixing rooms, these materials are blended to exact specifications to create the perfect compound for extrusion.

2. Extrusion Process – The blended uPVC is heated and fed into state-of-the-art extrusion machines. These machines shape the soft material into precise profiles used for windows and doors. The extrusion process is carefully monitored to ensure each profile is dimensionally accurate, strong, and smooth.

3. Cooling and Stabilising – After extrusion, profiles pass through a cooling system that sets the shape and prevents warping. At this stage, profiles are checked for straightness, surface quality, and structural integrity.

4. Quality Control – Profiles undergo multiple quality checks, including measurements for size, strength, and finish. Any defects are detected and corrected immediately. This ensures that only profiles meeting our strict global standards move forward.

Advanced Lamination & Local Aesthetics in Australia

In addition to extrusion, Kömmerling operates specialised lamination facilities in key markets, including Australia, to deliver customised finishes that meet local design trends and performance expectations.

Our Australian lamination plant in Melbourne features purpose-designed, climate-controlled rooms that allow precision application of high UV-resistant colour foils formulated specifically for Australian conditions. This capability gives you the final aesthetic finish — from classic neutrals to bold contemporary shades — with exceptional durability and colour stability.

These lamination processes ensure that your Kömmerling profiles not only perform to world-class standards but also enhance the design integrity of every project — whether residential, architectural, or commercial.
